Eurordis to host 12th European Conference on Rare Diseases and Orphan Products (ECRD 2024)
The 12th European Conference on Rare Diseases and Orphan Products (ECRD 2024) is the largest, patient-led, rare disease policy-shaping event held in Europe.
ECRD 2024 will be a hybrid conference taking place both online and at The Square in Brussels between 15 and 16 May 2024.
Hosted by EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, the conference brings together people with rare diseases, patient advocates, policymakers, healthcare industry representatives, clinicians and regulators. At ECRD 2024, EURORDIS will harness the power of this extensive network to shape goal-driven rare disease policies.
With the European Parliament elections fast approaching, ECRD 2024 will present an unrivalled opportunity to network and exchange invaluable insights, with discussions culminating in clear policy recommendations aimed at influencing policies at both the European and national levels.
ECRD 2024 sessions will explore a wide breadth of policy topics pertaining to the rare disease community. It will feature sessions dedicated to enhanced funding strategies for breakthrough therapies, improving mental health and wellbeing, achieving faster and more accurate diagnoses, and delivering a truly comprehensive, unified European policy response to rare disease.
Based on the strategic insights provided by the Rare 2030 Foresight Study, an initiative led by EURORDIS, funded by the European Commission, and supported by the European Parliament, ECRD 2024 is set to further utilise this extensive review. Our aim is to influence the perspectives of policymakers and the wider community, fostering a more cohesive and forward-thinking strategy for tackling the unmet needs of individuals with rare diseases, as well as addressing ongoing disparities throughout Europe. This effort is a part of an ongoing, collective endeavour to instigate meaningful progress within the field of rare diseases.
