June 13 this year marked the United Nations’ official International Albinism Awareness Day, recognising the special needs of people with Albinism. The Albinism fellowship, their families and supporters worked hard to raise levels of public knowledge about this rare genetic condition. Living with albinism brings many challenges that are not generally well known, as Andrew Bennett from the charity, the Albinism Fellowship explains.

Twins, Lara and Mara, and their older sister, Sheila, along with Photographer, Vinicius Terranova, are showing the world how there is beauty to be found in rare disease. Through a series of stunning photographs the girls, who have albinism, are challenging perceptions and attitudes. Swiss photographer, Vinicius, has been working with the girls as part of his project, Rare Flowers. Brazilian twins Lara and Mara, who have amassed over 5,000 Instagram followers, have been taking the fashion world by storm with high profile modelling assignments which include the sports brand Nike.

With so little known about Lupus, Lauren Fuller is on a rare mission to raise awareness and understanding for those who, like her, live with Lupus.
